I’m Passionate, Not Perfect

Welcome back!

Sitting in the hairdressers chair this morning it became even more apparent, though it didn’t have anything to do with getting my hair done. No, it had more to do with the conversation taking place. My hairdresser, a friend of mine, is also in ministry, she sings in a gospel quartet, next to her in the other hairdressers chair sat a pastor’s wife who has spent much time in ministry, and is a freelance writer herself. The three of us were in deep conversation about the what we do. How ministry “jobs” come along, speaking opportunities, invites to sing, and opportunities to write, how there are peaks and valleys, ebbs and flows, but how much we enjoy what we do.
As I sat there and poured out my story to the pastor’s wife, who wasn’t aware of what I have been doing for the past 2.5 years I felt it, that sense of “knowing” once again that THIS is my calling. This is my passion. Yesterday, I read this quote on a fellow blogger’s blog and it struck me deeply, Thanks Holley –
“It seems God values passion more than our idea of perfection. That doesn’t mean following our feelings but rather pursuing Him relentlessly and refusing to become passive.”
How wonderful it is that God is more concerned about my passion, and passion I have! I’m also proud to continue pursing Him and doing whatever it takes.
Feeling the Need

in Just Me
I’m feeling the need for some accountability. I believe New Year’s are all about fresh starts, new commitments, setting goals, but with that comes a need for some accountability as well. There are many areas of my life where I feel I need accountability.
Each year I set goals and most of the time these deal with my business and growth. And while I have done that this year, I still haven’t gotten a sense of peace. Things still feel “undone”. I feel convicted about my focus. I tend toe focus on my business and ministry a lot. It is my passion and it is important.
I often say, “cleaning the house won’t pay the bills” so my house goes unclean and I may get something done business wise but I’m frustrated with a dirty house.
I need some accountability and I need some clear direction on what areas I should focus on this year and what should be my focus. I want to be the woman God has called me to be.
Anyone else “feeling the need”?
More to come on my goals for 2010.

The Type A Mom Conference is coming up in September in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina. According to their website, the Type A Mom Conference is:
” a unique mom blogging conference designed to help you take it to the next level. The conference will feature some of the most influential, admired and insightful mom bloggers talking about topics like power social networking, branding, blogging, finding your voice, and turning your passion for blogging into a real paycheck.”
I am a mom blogger and I desire to attend this conference for many reasons. One of which is the opportunity to network with and learn from other like-minded bloggers. I believe in taking steps of faith when there is value in doing something. I believe there is value in attending this conference. Therefore, today I began searching for a sponsor or sponsors for the conference. I have obtained my first sponsor. Though she was not able to contribute the full amount needed for the conference, I feel like this is a positive step in the right direction. Tonight I will be securing my Super Early Bird Registration so that I can save both myself and my sponsor’s $$ and will continue to search for sponsors.
