Welcome back!
I’m once again participating in OhhAmanda’s Top Ten Tuesday Today I’m making an announcement of sorts, and giving you the top 10 reasons for this new fun announcement and blog. You see I just started a new blog. After several weeks of doing MUCH less online than I have done in years, thanks to “letting some things go”, I’ve as a result but searching for what God would have me to do online these days, besides blog here and write for just a couple of clients.
The answer seemed to creep up on me, at first I was pretty anxious about it, I even began to run from it, but the idea and thought kept creeping back up. So, here are the top 10 reasons why I am starting and soon to be “officially launching” a local blog for moms, grandmothers, parents and families in and around Carroll County, MS.
1. I have officially been a resident of Carroll County for 10 years this summer.
2. I want to become more involved in the community itself.
3. My kids are reaching school age soon and I’d like to keep up with things locally for them.
4. I love to write!
5. I want to share deals and other fun things with other moms.
6. There seems to be no such resource.
7. Blogging is a huge stress release for me.
8. It will be a great way to connect “locally” with other moms.
9. I love projects!
10. Social media is THE way to go for businesses and I want to show that to the local businesses in our area.
You can find the new LOCAL blog / online magazine at http://DeltaHillsMoms.com, it is a work in progress as it will not officially launch until Thursday, May 6, 2010 with an exciting National Mom’s Nite Out event hosted here locally at the Carrollton / North Carrollton Library, at 7:00 pm.
Precious Girls Club Review & Giveaway

For a long time I have wanted to be able to provide a community for young girls online. As my ministry, Beauty by Design Ministries’ mission is “turning the hearts of girls towards God”. I felt that the net was lacking in a safe and interactive environment for girls to participate in. Though I have not been able to have the tools or the resources to create such a place I have found one that I can recommend in The Precious Girls Club. This fun and interactive website for young girls is just what I thought about for so long but more than I ever knew I could have created. Sponsored by Precious Moments, this place is perfect for young girls and safe too.
Not only do they have the interactive community they call “The Precious Girls Club” but they also have a “Precious Moms “ and a line of products to go along with them. These include figurines, charm bracelets, and books. I was sent one of the books called Operation Kindness, which teaches young girls the Biblical concept of kindness. It is one of the books in a series. They also stuffed dog too. Both are perfect products for young girls and best of all are the concepts that they teach.
I have a second copy of the book and a stuffed dog too to give away here on the blog. So, if you have a young girl please leave her name in the comments below and tell me how she would benefit from The Precious Girl’s Club to win a copy of Operation Kindness and the cute little stuffed puppy too. Giveaway will be held Wednesday,July 1.
My Ezine Has a New Name and Direction
by Alyssa Avant on May 18, 2009
in Featured, Just Me, My Ministry
For over two years now I have authored a weekly ezine called “Mom-Daughter Connection” as a part of my ministry, Beauty by Design Ministries. Over that time I have shared articles, tips and advice with moms of girls of all ages. Many times I found that other moms would subscribe to the ezine even if they were not the mother of a daughter.
I had many of those moms, either moms of boys, moms of grown children, or just women in general to tell me that they enjoyed my ezine, even though they were not a mother of a girl. So, with this new direction I am taking I am going to be changing the name of my ezine to “Faith Notes from Alyssa” and it will now be available on all of my websites to anyone who chooses to sign up, NOT just moms of girls.
Yes, it will still include articles and encouragement, tips and advice, but I”m hoping it can apply to any mom. As I share my journey of faith with you I hope that you can be encouraged, inspired and that your heart will be “turned towards God”, after all that is my mission.
I was reminded by an online friend today that “faith is a gift” and she honored me by saying, “and you’ve got it.” As a Christian, I know that since I do indeed have that “Faith”, that I should share it with others. That is what I hope to do by offering you a subscription to “Faith Notes from Alyssa” sign up in the sidebar to your right.
While you’re here. I’m asking that my reader’s take a survey, as I am attempting to “get to know you better”. If you would please do the quick survey here. I promise it is painless.
