I Set My Mind To . .

Welcome back!
Funny how I’ve always been taught, “you can do whatever you set your mind to.” Yet, in doing even the simplest of things, namely taking care of my home, I struggled. The truth is, my mind nor my heart was in it. I was focused on other things, good things mind you, mostly ministry and creating an income for my family, but nonetheless my mind was elsewhere, and we all know where are thoughts are there is our heart.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
I am grateful for how quickly things can change, for the fact that I can set my mind to changing and I can do it. For the fact that I can call on friends to pray, they do so and I feel their prayers. My heart and my mind and my treasure are in a much different place than they were a few weeks ago and for that I am grateful.
Thank you Lord for being a God of second, third and fourth chances and thank you for allowing me to do. . . whatever I set my mind on.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Some Things Can’t Be Planned
by Alyssa Avant on February 26, 2010
in Just Me
I’m a planner by nature. At least, that’s what I think. But one of the things I’ve learned this week, is that some things can’t be planned. Sure, I believe that we can make plans and that our plans and steps should be directed by God. After all the Bible says,
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21
Even still, I believe there are some things that cannot be planned. One of those things is when and how God will answer our prayers. After all, that is done on HIS timing not ours. Many times, we may believe that we can pray and that we will get an answer immediately. This is not the case. Many times, it can take time for God to work.

This is where reliance on God and faith have to come through for us. We must not give up hope, we must keep looking to Him, we must keep seeking His face. It is when we take our eyes off of Him, and begin to rely on our own strength that we can waver, that we can feel overwhelmed and that ultimately we can fail.
Proud of My Tag Cloud

I’d often seen these tag clouds on other people’s blogs and thought that they were a bit distracting. Therefore, I never put mine up on my blog. Then today, I did it out of curiosity and it reminded me of something. First, take a look at the cloud

Just in case you don’t understand it. The larger the font the more often your posts were tagged for that particular word or phrase. If you notice one of my largest words is GOD. This makes me proud. I try very hard to share my faith here on my blog because it is such a huge part of who I am and because as a Christian it is what I am called to do. So, I’m proud of that!
And it reminded me of this. I have heard preachers and Bible teachers say many times that you can discover where your heart is by looking at where you spend your time, and where you spend your money. I feel that my tag cloud is simliar to that. What do I spend my time telling others about, what do I spend time writing about, that shows others where my heart is. Like the Bible says,
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
