I’ve Been… Strung Out

Welcome back!

It is a term coined by my “mother-in-law” or at least I believe she’s the only person I’ve ever heard use this term, “strung out”.  She is constantly making up new terms.  It is quite comical when you think of it, but in reality the type of “strung out” I’ve been is anything but comical, and no it isn’t “strung” out as in drunk or high, though I think I have heard that term used for those who participate in those types of activities.

What she means, on the other hand is that I have been so busy it is like someone is dangling me on a string controlling my every move.  I feel like I’m just going and going and going.  Life is busy, life is surreal.  I cannot even explain the myriad of emotions I have felt the last few days as I have dealt with death, planning, children and more.

This weekend a young boy in our church died tragically, yesterday I attended his funeral and helped to serve his family lunch.  It was a heart-wrenching and heart-warming day.  My emotions were all over the board.  That my friends is exhausting.  Then, I”m in the middle of planning Vacation Bible School.  You would never imagine how much that requires and then in the middle of it this death occurs and everyone’s life is affected.

Even still, I am a mom and a business owner and though I want to sit and do nothing I must continue to push ahead.  So, you can see why I have not blogged here in days and days, “I’ve been strung out.”

What’s Been Going On?

When I am out and about with my hubby and he sees a friend of his they usually start their conversation like this, “What’s been going on?” So, I thought that was a pretty appropriate way to start this blog post, since I have been MIA for a few days here on the blog.

Probably a better question is “What hasn’t been going on?” I have been extremely busy.  Last Thursday afternoon I got a phone call that a church nearby that was having a Disciple Now Weekend (youth event) was needing a Bible study leader for the 7-9th grade girls as the one that was suppose to come had had an emergency arise and had to drop out.  Though the person calling me thought I might know someone who could fill in at the last minute I didn’t but God did.  He whispered to me, “Just do it yourself.” So I did.

I spent the better part of the weekend with 7 7th-9th grade girls.  This was interesting to say the least. They were great, but they sure have a burden on their shoulders that I have never had.  It was overwhelming honestly to hear their stories.

Also this weekend I’ve been working on a new project.  A training program, Faith Leaps, where I hope to share with others who want to begin speaking, writing or ministry how they can feel confident enough to take that “leap of faith”.

Today, in just an hour or so I’ll be getting my professional pictures taken for my website, my speaker one sheet and other promotional materials for my ministry I am so excited.

This week I also begin my online classes through Liberty University.  Yes, I know, how am I going to do it all?   So, that’s “What’s Been Going On?”

Another Weekend Recap

weekendWow, It’s time to do this again?? I completely forgot until someone linked here saying they got the idea of a “weekend” recap from me.  EEKKK!!

Anyway, this week honestly has been quite the “blur”.  I started out the week in hopes of having baby #3 quickly. However, as I sit here with him still “baking” as some say, you can tell that didn’t happen.  Hopefully tomorrow is the ever fateful day.  I am going to the doctor at 10 am on Monday, pray he puts me in for induction.

So, recapping this week. Monday was the doctor’s appointment. I had dilated but since then nothing.  Tuesday and Wednesday my mom and grandmother came over to help out with the kids and house. Praise God that was a blessing.  Thursday I had to go it alone, and Friday Greg ended up off because his state car went capoot.  We went out to lunch and out for supper, yay no cooking and had a good time spending time together.

I made mammoth to do lists this week in an effort to “stay busy”, which I pretty much did working online on my websites and installing two Wordpress blogs and doing customizations for two clients.  This is sort of one of those “hobbies” I get paid to do.  I know it’s not something I really have “time” for, but it’s relaxing and fun to me, I know I’m wierd, a nerd, go read yesterday’s post you’ll understand why I say that.  But seriously, I learned Wordpress over time and I have come to love tweaking and playing with it.  Fortunately for me there are people out there who hate doing this sort of thing but want a website or blog set up so they pay me.  Win-win!

So, between all that and doing ministry related stuff, I booked a speaking engagement this week and worked out the details on that, I’ll be in Senatobia, MS speaking to Moms and daughters at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 23.  Excited! I have stayed busy this week, ever so impatiently waiting for baby Brady to make his arrival.  I am beyond ready and hope upon hope tomorrow is the BIG day!
