Magnetic Blocks

Published by Alyssa under Toddler

I have always been intrigued by the force of gravity on magnets.  That’s what makes a magnet work right?  Well, regardless of HOW they work, the fact is that magnets are fun to play with no matter what your age.  The Kobold Toys Magnetic blocks are just as fun.  With their bright colors and shapes they can entertain your tot for hours.  Stacking, linking, making trains or towers, they provide a great opportunity for hands on play for your child.

Plus, you can turn these basic block toys into a learning tool as well.  You might want to use them to teach shapes, colors or even science, with their magnetic capability.  Your child will be fascinated by them and enjoy them as well.

These bright and colorful blocks are not the only fabulous toys that Kobold Toys offers.  They have a huge variety of creative and educational toys offered on their website.

It’s Going to be a Happy Halloween

Published by Alyssa under Baby, Preschool, Toddler

Thanks to the Family Review Network and the Halloween Party Store my kids are going to look mighty cute for Halloween.  We were given the opportunity to review a costume or two and I am quite impressed with the quality of the costumes, the super fast shipping, and the variety that the Halloween Party Store offers in their online store.  Plus, the prices aren’t too bad either.

My son will be Bob the Builder and my daughter will be Little Bo Peep.  But, there are literally tons more costumes to choose from in every size imaginable from baby to big kids like you and me.  I could even dress just like my little girl, but my hubby said that’d be going too far.

So,  I”ll just be going as mom this year, but my kids will be decked out in their super cute goods.

Project Dollhouse

Published by Alyssa under Preschool, Toddler

Being able to be a mom reviewer has been fun and rewarding, but never has it been more enjoyable than reviewing The Caring Corners Mrs. Goodbee Dollhouse with my 18 month old daughter and 4 year old son.  They both love the dollhouse.  Not only that but their project sent us not one but two dollhouses, one of which we got to give away.  I think this excited my son more than having our own.  He gave the house away to his cousin, who screamed with delight over the gift.  They all three are now enjoying playing with these dollhouses which are not only magnificent in make, but also in what they teach.

dollhouseYes, these dollhouses are not only fun, but they are educational, teaching your children manners and practices, such as caring for your pets, washing your hands, and greeting your household visitors.  For some of the reasons I mentioned IVillage.com dubbed it one of the hottest toys of 2008.  I couldn’t agree more.  Here’s what IVillage.com had to say:

Caring Corners “Mrs. Goodbee” Doll House comes alive when Mrs. Goodbee’s eyes open, her mouth lights up and her voice responds to children as they play. If a child places a crying baby in its cradle and rocks it, he or she will be rewarded with a lullaby and Mrs. Goodbee’s complimentary words. The 12-room dollhouse promotes caring and sharing, good manners, responsibility around the house and more. Why aren’t more toys designed like this one? Brilliant!

Age recommendation: 3+
Available August 2008

My two even got along for the hours and hours they’ve spent playing with this house, for the most part and they have definitely spent some time on it, I imagine if my 18 month old was a girl of many words, she would say this is her favorite toy.

Thumbs Up Yoplait! Review & Giveaway

Published by Alyssa under Food, Preschool, Toddler

I was recently given the opportunity to try out Yoplait Kids Yogurt with my kids and also received a Yoplait cooler and a Brain Building game for a giveway here on the Review blog.  Excited about the opportunity, it was so much fun to receive the goodies in the mail.

yogurtThen, my son couldn’t wait for me to get the yogurt from the store.  He was thrilled that it had Dora on the side, one of the pluses of the Yoplait Kid’s Yogurt, it features characters your kids love, making it more appealing to them.  The yogurt we chose was strawberry and strawberry-vanilla and featured Dora.  It also comes in Diego and the Backyardigans and contains the nutrient Omega-3 DHA, an important nutrient to help support healthy brain development in kids.

Once I got our yogurt home my son had to try it immediately and he and his sister have zipped through the package of 6 quickly.  They really love the fruity taste and of course their favorite part is that it is “Dora yogurt”.

giveawayTwo thumbs up Yoplait for this kid friendly, healthy treat for our kids.  And thanks for the cool Yoplait cooler and Brain-Quest game, (for ages 2-3), plus the coupon for free yogurt, all of which I have one to giveaway.

Now, for the giveaway, all you have to do to enter is leave a comment here on the blog with a valid email address.  I will be choosing the winner on Monday, September 15 so check back then!

And, if you want to try the Yoplait Kids Yogurt for yourself you can find a coupon for $1.50 off on their website.

Mom, Are you losing your marbles?

Published by Alyssa under Preschool, Toddler

mom's marblesFor all you moms out there who either work from home with little ones under foot, or maybe you just stay at home with the kids, which is a job in itself. Either way I’m sure you often feel like you’re losing your marbles.  Can I get an AMEN?

Many days my 4 year old, 17 month old and newborn children test my patience quite a bit and I wonder why they just can’t play with their piles and piles of toys and just be happy.  Not the case though huh?  No seriously, I would often like to find enjoying, fun yet educational activities for my children to do. Now, I can find those types of activities, laid out for me and ready to enjoy at Mom’s Marbles a new website dedicated to helping moms who feel like they are about to lose their marbles.

The activities featured on Mom’s Marbles help kids to create, explore, imagine and play.  Besides the cool activities that the site’s owners, Stay At Home Mom sister team, Mary Ellen and Sarah put out, they will also from time to time feature birthday party themes as well.  There really is something for every mom on this site.

Flip for the Flippee

Published by Alyssa under Toddler

Sure wish I had this neat gadget about 2 years ago when potty training my son, but needless to say still 2 years later he still needs this cool gadget.  The Flippee is The Toilet Shield shielding your toilet lid, floor and the wall from the aim of your off target toddler.

flippeeWe received our Flippee in the mail to review and my son was immediately very intrigued.  I think he made a game of it, but hey at least the thing works!  I was pleasantly surprised by an item I thought, “what in the world would I need that for?” when I was first introduced to it.  You’d be surprised how much you really do need it.  It wasn’t too many months ago we were going into his bathroom and saying “What is that smell?” due to his off target aim, but now with the Flippee this problem is solved, because it is shielding the area around the toilet, which by the way was often hard to tell that he had missed because we have a dark colored floor and if we didn’t mop for a few days, it was a mess.

So, I highly recommend this creative gadget, which retails for $24.95 and can be found at their main site Flippee or at Potty Training Concepts.
