Menu Plan Monday – February 8

Welcome to Life from my Laptop, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. You can also sign up to receive my posts via email. Thanks for visiting!

I haven’t done a Menu Plan Monday in quite some time, though I do enjoy them and I always menu plan so it should be an easy thing to keep up with.  Here’s my menu for this week.  By the way, I am starting to use E-Mealz.com to help with menu planning and to save some money as they are known to help you do both.  mpm-1

This week’s menu:

1. Grilled salmon, wild rice, green beans.

2. Hamburger Steaks, cabbage, mashed potatoes.

3.  Chili dogs, fries

4.  Grilled chicken sandwiches, homemade fries.

I’ll likely add to this, as I shop on Wednesday’s and haven’t shopped for this week yet.  Plus, I’m using the new E-Mealz plan.  Excited about that.  Have you checked it out yet?  Dave Ramsey recommends it.

My Little Piece of Bliss

blissdomI had plans to attend the upcoming bloggers conference Blissdom. I landed a sponsor, lined up childcare and persuaded my husband to come along. However, my children have been sick one right after another and my little one is not doing so well with “sleeping” so my husband and I agreed it just wouldn’t be a good time to leave him. Therefore, I sold my Blissdom ticket to a gal I found on Twitter, Liz, who I have followed for a long time and all was well. Liz was especially well!

Then today a box came via Fed Ex, it was the “Blissdom” swag. I must admit I was a bit hesitant about opening it as I knew I’d have to ship it on to Liz. However, I contacted Liz and she told me to “keep” it for all I had done to get her to Blissdom. Did I mention my Sponsor, Outright.com, is now “Her” sponsor? Yep!

This is what I love about the Internet. It is amazing the opportunities we can find and the generosity that we can experience. I’ve never met Liz in real life, though I hope to. And I am amazed by Outright. Their team has been amazing. I have been an Outright user for a year now and have gotten nothing but awesome help from their team, specifically Bill & Paul. Thanks Guys!

OutrightOutright can help you if you’re a blogger, or a small business owner to get your finances and your business records under control.  They are truly a go to source for these things.

Liz, I was fortunate enough to attend Blissdom last year. I hope your experience will be as great as mine was, and if this swag box is any indication of what’s in store you are in for a real treat! These sponsors are top notch.

Do Your Kids Do Chores – A Giveaway

If there’s one thing I wish I could figure out about parenting, it is how to motivate my children to pick up their toys, clean up after themselves and not make such messes.  I know that’s what children do, and I have to teach them, and they have to grow up a little, but there has got to be something to make this process a little better.

I would really like advice in this area though, my children are 6, 2.5 and 18 months.  I want to be realistic but at the same time I need them to help.  I could really use something like this handy dandy chore chart.  I bet that would help huh? Here’s what one customer had to say about the chore chart:

“As soon as we started using this chart we noticed an improvement in our son’s behavior. Our expectations no longer seem arbitrary to him. Instead he knows what we expect, and he looks forward to reviewing the chart at each day’s end. When he has performed what is expected of him, he gets to place a smiley face magnet in the appropriate box.”

Well, if you give me some great chore advice I’ll enter you to win one.  Yep! My Precious Kid has donated one to give awaychore-chart-responsibility here on the blog.  Enter between now and Sunday, January 24 at midnight and you’ll be entered to win.  Simply leave your chore advice in the comments below.  (Contest valid in the United States only.)

I’ll randomly choose a winner on Monday, January 25.
