It’s Been a Day of Clearing

Welcome back!
It’s definitely been a day of clearing. In more ways than just one. I cleared my desk, man was it ever a mess. You can see a before and
after picture below. This was inspired by one of my new Twitter friends @MyGOMOM, Molly Gold, president of Go Mom Inc. who has been kind enough to supply me with one of her DIY planners for a giveaway next week. I’m super excited about bringing that to my little blog here.
Second, it has been a day of clearing things off of my to do list. I have a speaking engagement this weekend and tomorrow I have to be super focused on that last minute prep for that. Speaking to a group of 1st – 6th grade girls in Madison, MS.
Finally, I’m clearing off that “big goals” list. For the past 3 years, yes you read that right, THREE, I have had a goal to finish my devotional book I’ve been compiling for girls and their moms. It will be a mom-daughter devotional guide and be for that “tween” age group. Today I was talking to my book coach and friend, Kristen over at I Am Published and she gave me that final “push” so to speak. In the next few weeks the book will be being edited, formatted and all that jazz. I will soon and very soon be a “published” author. So excited!
So there you have it… man my plate feels so “clean”. I love Taking action!

Last week I listed this fabulous giveaway by My Precious Kid here on the blog. I also asked for your “chore” tips to help me get my little ones to do their “chores”. I had several great ideas given. I love the colors tip and I realize now that I MUST play along, “do I have to?” Just kidding.
Thanks so much for your entries, but there is only one winner, and she is Lisa from Sweet, Sweet Reality. I am emailing Lisa to get her info so that Kay over at My Precious Kid can send her out her “chore chart”. Congrats!
My Little Piece of Bliss

I had plans to attend the upcoming bloggers conference Blissdom. I landed a sponsor, lined up childcare and persuaded my husband to come along. However, my children have been sick one right after another and my little one is not doing so well with “sleeping” so my husband and I agreed it just wouldn’t be a good time to leave him. Therefore, I sold my Blissdom ticket to a gal I found on Twitter, Liz, who I have followed for a long time and all was well. Liz was especially well!
Then today a box came via Fed Ex, it was the “Blissdom” swag. I must admit I was a bit hesitant about opening it as I knew I’d have to ship it on to Liz. However, I contacted Liz and she told me to “keep” it for all I had done to get her to Blissdom. Did I mention my Sponsor, Outright.com, is now “Her” sponsor? Yep!
This is what I love about the Internet. It is amazing the opportunities we can find and the generosity that we can experience. I’ve never met Liz in real life, though I hope to. And I am amazed by Outright. Their team has been amazing. I have been an Outright user for a year now and have gotten nothing but awesome help from their team, specifically Bill & Paul. Thanks Guys!
Outright can help you if you’re a blogger, or a small business owner to get your finances and your business records under control. They are truly a go to source for these things.
Liz, I was fortunate enough to attend Blissdom last year. I hope your experience will be as great as mine was, and if this swag box is any indication of what’s in store you are in for a real treat! These sponsors are top notch.
I Needed This

Back during the Christmas holidays I stumbled upon a blog and message board Women Living Well. Courtney the author and owner is an amazing Christian woman. I found her through one of my favorite blogs, Sarah Mae’s Like a Warm Cup of Coffee. She had commented on a quite controversial post and so had I so I went over for a visit to her blog. What I found was a “community” of Christian ladies that I knew from the first post or two I’d want to be apart of, since then I have gotten involved there and found accountability and encouragement.
That is what I needed. Courtney encourages ladies to find some in real life “accountability” partners and to form relationships with them such as her suggested Good Morning Girls to help keep us accountable to doing our quiet times (time alone with God). I did this with 2 of my in real life friends and am so glad that I did. I not only get the accountability but I am enjoying the connection with them each day. As a Work at home mom I often lack that contact with other moms.
The other thing that I have stumbled upon in the blog-o-sphere that I am enjoying is #FreshYearFresh Start. This is a great group of Christian ladies putting this on as well. Today’s post is all about what is working for me to help me spiritually in 2010. I do feel I am off to a fresh start in this New Year. What about you?

I'm Alyssa, a Christian writer & speaker, but most of all a wife & mom with an amazing husband, Greg and three energetic kids. I am in a season of simplifying my life, which God says means trading good for best. Please stay, connect, and follow my journey.
