Thursday Thirteen: Things That Never End

Welcome back!
I haven’t done a Thursday Thirteen in a while, but seeing as I have a bunch of random thoughts in my mind, I thought I would. Today, I”m focusing on the things in my life that never seem to end, or things that I feel like will never end, though they might at some point in the future.

1. Messes. I just wonder how many of these I clean up per day. Dishes in the kitchen, banana on the floor from my son’s breakfast, piles of laundry, spilled cheetos, the lsit goes on and on.
2. School. I am back in school, online, trying to finish my Master’s Degree and it feels like it will never end. I am burnt out, but I can’t quit because I am sooo close to being completely finished.
3. Laundry. I recently took over the laundry in our house after years of not doing and I tell you, it is never ending.
4. Diapers. I have two children in diapers. That equals changing diapers many, many times per day.
5. Dishes. I love to cook, but I hate to clean up. Dishes are a never ending cycle. Thank the Lord I have a dishwasher, but even still you have to load it and unload it.
6. Learning. After a bunch of negatives I thought I’d turn to something positive. I do enjoy learning, despite my burnt-outness related to school, I am more burnt out over the due dates and constant work. I enjoy learning and find it to be something I believe we should do daily.
7. Growth spurts. My kids seem to be growing like weeds. ALL of my son’s pants were too short this year, my baby boy is catching up with his big sister and even she is bigger than she used to be. Oh and her bangs, they grow 2 inches a week. Seems like we’re constantly going to the hairdresser to get them trimmed.
8. Bills. Yesterday was “bill paying day” around here. The money comes in, the money goes out. Must it be so quickly?
9. Twitter Friend Requests. I wonder how many people join Twitter a day, my inbox is constantly inundated. Not that I’m complaining, but WOW!
10. Emails period. Another thing that is continuous. Keeps life exciting though, I am a habitual email checker.
11. Illness. Around here lately every kid I know is sick, one right after another. I’m hoping this year isn’t going to be like last year my kids were sick every other week.
12. Work. Even if it’s not the “getting paid” kind, there’s housework, constant work.
13. Life. I’m grateful that even with the many things that I deal with daily that life is “everlasting” thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On the other side of the fence here… looking back…. there will come a day when the diapers and potty training end, and in the blink of an eye they will be off on their own. Fevers, skinned knees, cartoons, video games will all be a distant memory. Some things will never end. My advice to any young mother is don’t worry too much about the things that will always be there for you. Concern yourself with the “little” things that will all to soon be a memory. Hold your kids longer, play more, look them in the eyes when they are talking to you, even if you are in the middle of something “more important”. Don’t let one moment slip by that you give into the temptation of putting them on the back burner while you do any of those other things that seem endless. I don’t have a 13 list to share, my life has been simplified greatly and the never ending chores now, don’t seem that big a deal to me. I just wanted to share a thought from the other side of 13 list, hope you don’t mind.

Wendy is very wise.
It helps to have some good systems in place. I’m not quite on the other side yet. As a single mom, I’ve managed to keep a clean house and a healthy diet, and stay motivated and relatively sane. If you could use some help – feel free to stop by my site and pick up some tips.
