My dh gave up his office so our son could have his own room (well, he actually shares the room with my dh's now "mini-office". So, we spent a few weeks this summer creating a homeschool/scrapbooking room. It's probably the only room in the house where everything has a place! I do have a closet where I placed cubes like the one you have (i got them from Michael's) to keep scrapbooking stuff, including all my paper. I have a large freestanding closet for homeschool curriculum/books, two desks with paper organizers, etc etc and one large file cabinet. i have smaller cabinets, etc to hold other supplies as well. I am learning to use Google calendar to keep us on schedule. i really should take pics and post them to my blog. Guess i could do that later today. LMK if you have specific questions and i'll try to help. I'm no pro; but i used to be much more organized and find myself getting back to it little by little.
