One of My Quirks

Welcome back!

My husband pointed it out to me tonight.  He didn’t call it a quirk, but I couldn’t come up with a better name for it, and quirky or a “quirk” just seemed to fit in my mind. You see I have this thing I do.  It involves food.  I get stuck on a certain food and I eat it like crazy.  I can’t seem to get enough of that food and I have to have it every day, or at least extremely often. Then, all of a sudden, I don’t want it anymore or at least not as often.

Here are some of my recent food binges.  They include:

  • coffee (not a food but a recent addiction)
  • Bagelfuls
  • egg sandwiches
  • guacamole
  • chips and salsa

My newest is OLIVES!

What will be next?  Do you do this? Or am I alone?

If that’s quirky, then you are surely not alone! I would imagine that there are many of us who go through “food spurts” which can also lead to “growth spurts” as well.

Right now I’ve been stuck on homemade frozen juice and yogurt bars, which at least are fairly healthy. Can’t say what will be next. Taste buds like teasing.

Enjoy your new found love of olives

I can totally relate to this! I understand the green olive kick – mine was during pregnancy, but since my 2nd daughter’s birth I still crave them on occasion.

    My “quirky” cravings have included:
    Pimiento Cheese Spread on tortillas
    Ham Salad
Frosted Mini-Wheats (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.)
    Peanut Butter ice cream

And after I’ve satisfied my craving, I don’t care if I ever see or taste them again! Do you think this is hormonal at all? Shifts in our enzymes, hormones, and such?
