simplemomIf you’ve read my blog here lately you’ve heard me make mention of SimpleMom, an American blogging mom who lives overseas and has an awesome home management blog that I am just in love with.  She answered a question I left her on her blog today about getting things done.  I”m using her method right now as I prepare for my day.  It’s really liberating actually.  Go read it on her blog and set out on your journey to “getting things done” today in your home.

What a great answer she gave. You know I’ve had so much ’stuff’ in my head I’ve been forgetting things! The other day as I was driving I thought of a totally awesome topic for my blog and by the time I got home it was gone. I have a LONG to-do list bodging up my brain and I just need to empty it. Just like emptying your trash can on your desktop- it’s so freeing!

I think it’s time to get that pad of paper out again!

I am glad you asked the question you did. What SimpleMom advocates is similar to the pre-writing warm-up technique I used to have my middleschool students to in preparation for writing an essay. Basically, you give yourself freedom to write down anything that comes into your head. I still haven’t mastered having everything I do/schedule/plan in one place, though (even though I actually have a Household Notebook!). I hope that have that together by January, though.

Looking forward to exploring your site.
