Rocking My Routines
Routines, they have been a way of life for me. Even back in high school during the holiday season I’d be caught saying, “I miss my routine.” That being getting up, going to school, going to cheer practice, coming home, chatting with mom, grabbing a snack, doing homework, gabbing to my boyfriend on the telephone (not cell phone mind you, I didn’t have one), and going to bed. I craved routine and still do.
Just a few weeks ago I birthed my third child, so my routines were once again blown away by the newness and craziness of bringing home a new baby, something I wouldnt’ trade for the world, but once again I craved my routines. Sure, they changed a bit, but now I’m back in the groove and rocking my routines, which makes me VERY Happy. I have even started some new ones that I had wanted to do for a long time, but lacked the discipline to do.
After promising myself and GOd that I’d be a better wife and mom, I took on the routines of going to bed with a clean kitchen, meaning a shiny, lacking dirty dishes sink, and another routine of washing at least one load of laundry a day. I used to let my husband do ALL of the laundry, yes, ladies he did it and he’s a Godsend. Finally, I have much stricter terms surrounding my online and computer time. Sometimes I have to be flexible with this as life just “happens” but for the most part I’m doing well with this as well.
I’m loving my routines. What about you do you keep a set of routines? Do they help you to function? Could you live without them? Tell me about it! I’d love to hear from you! Comment below!

Having the kids in school definitely helps set their routine and mine. I find working out easy after dropping off the kids since I can head straight to the Y.
BUT, I am not so good at having special days to clean certain rooms, etc. OR having my Bible Study time. I need to be! You’ve inspired me. I think I’ll go do that right now.
I really like the way you have your day organized…I really NEED to get something together, I’m so unorganized when it comes to my house…I’m pretty organized when it comes to other things though…just not my home…it’s very unorganized and my boys don’t help!!
Great article. I really need to get some sort of routines going. Everything is always chaos here! I always start to set something up, but never keep up with it!
aren’t we really better being creatures of habit? love the post.
