Rocking My Routines

Published by Alyssa Avant under Uncategorized

routineRoutines, they have been a way of life for me.  Even back in high school during the holiday season I’d be caught saying, “I miss my routine.” That being getting up, going to school, going to cheer practice, coming home, chatting with mom, grabbing a snack, doing homework, gabbing to my boyfriend on the telephone (not cell phone mind you, I didn’t have one), and going to bed.  I craved routine and still do.

Just a few weeks ago I birthed my third child, so my routines were once again blown away by the newness and craziness of bringing home a new baby, something I wouldnt’ trade for the world, but once again I craved my routines.  Sure, they changed a bit, but now I’m back in the groove and rocking my routines, which makes me VERY Happy.  I have even started some new ones that I had wanted to do for a long time, but lacked the discipline to do.

After promising myself and GOd that I’d be a better wife and mom, I took on the routines of going to bed with a clean kitchen, meaning a shiny, lacking dirty dishes sink, and another routine of washing at least one load of laundry a day.  I used to let my husband do ALL of the laundry, yes, ladies he did it and he’s a Godsend.  Finally, I have much stricter terms surrounding my online and computer time.  Sometimes I have to be flexible with this as life just “happens” but for the most part I’m doing well with this as well.

I’m loving my routines.  What about you do you keep a set of routines? Do they help you to function?  Could you live without them?  Tell me about it!  I’d love to hear from you!  Comment below!

A Fresh Start

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Me

fresh startIn a couple of days we’ll start a new month. I love starting a new month.  It’s something about a fresh month that makes me happy.  Yes, our bank account is relatively full of cash at least for a day or two, that is until all the checks and debits clear for all our bills that are due the beginning of the month.  But, despite that, it still gives me the opportunity to start fresh and new.  Set new goals, make new plans, find new things to discover and learn from.  All reasons I love beginning a new month.

Each day gives us a fresh start too.  I like to start my day with my prayer time and Bible study, writing in my journal.  It is comforting to look at a clean white page of paper in my journal and fill it with my thoughts and prayers.  Then head to my desk and created my To Do list on another clean, white, fresh sheet of paper.

Finally I head to the kitchen and lately actually get to stare into a clean sparkling sink and begin my day.  Ahh!  Tis so sweet to have a fresh start. What about you, what are some fresh starts that you enjoy in your own life?

Contest and Deadlines

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just News

I normally do not blog on Sunday.  Blame it on my being religious, or the fact that my weekends are normally too boring to mention, whatever the case I don’t.  However, this week I’m attempting to reach my 500th blog post by Tuesday for my contest and therefore I’m in need of blog material.

contestYes, the 500th post contest ends on Tuesday. Winners will be announced Wednesday. There is still time for you to enter by commenting on any blog post in the month of September.  You can have multiple entries for multiple comments.  See all the great prizes here.

Now, one of the things I have been doing this month is writing articles to promote my business(es).  The challenge was to write 30.  I have managed thus far 18.  So that means in order to make the deadline of Tuesday I’d have to write 12 more in just a few days.  I may not make it folks.  Nevertheless its been a healthy exercise.

Now, I can’t stick around too long, I have important Sunday afternoon things to take care of and I have a baby crying and a toddler summoning me.
