Counting My Blessings

Welcome back!
I may not have it all, but there are a few things I do have. I have an amazing husband, seriously, I probably don’t have to convince you. I’m sure you’ll take my word for it, but I’ll tell you a little bit about him and why I think he is amazing anyway.
My husband works at a typical 8 – 5 pm job. He’s a probation and parole officer. A job that can be a bit hair pulling at times. One day in the past few weeks I called to see how his day was going and he said, ” I think I’m going to loose it.” Basically, his responsibilities that day were overwhelming him. Even on those days he comes home, helps with the housework (he is the laundry man) and plays with the kids. He loves my children and is clearly MADE to be a daddy. I knew this before we had kids as most of the time any kid within a few feet from him are clinging to him like a magnet within minutes of coming into his presence. He just has a way with children, and they know that he is going to play right along.
Besides my husband, I have awesome kids, sure my 4 year old can drive anyone mad in a few moments with his 1000 questions, bossiness (wonder where he gets that from) and bouncing off the walls, but he is also incredibly loving, wise beyond his years, and a fabulous big brother, helping me with everything from diaper changes to vacuuming. My son can literally anticipate my needs. He is amazing.
Then there is my baby girl. Becoming the big sister faster than she was ready, we always called her “little sister”, but she is destined to be a fabulous “big sister” too. Though she is still only 17 months herself and still a baby to me. She too is one smart little cookie, can melt the heart of almost anyone with her gigantic blue eyes and cute little ways. I just know she and I are going to have an awesome relationship as the years go by, she is special.
Then there’s my little man. Though I did not plan to have a third child, God had other plans and I know those plans are great. My baby boy has stolen my heart in 5 short weeks and I can’t even stand to be away from his gaze. He shares those gigantic blue eyes his sister has and is the calmest most laid back baby. Heck he has to be, his big brother and sister sure make enough noise and chaos for the whole family.

And, if those 4 people weren’t enough to keep my life happy, I have the best friends anyone could ever want. I have been extremely blessed to have met some of the most wonderful women of God through my church, who pray for me, laugh with me, cry with me, and just have a good time together. Last night I went to a local football game to hang out with some of them, we’re all experiencing the same things, wild kids, babies, financial woes. It is just good to be together, whether we can afford the concessions stand or not.
I tell you, after the time I spent worrying and fretting this week I felt I needed to count my blessings. So there you have it!

And a very blessed woman you are…thanks for sharing! Enjoy your sweet family this weekend!

Very sweet and your family is just beautiful. Those are are so striking! Oh love hearing stories about helping husbands who do laundry – that’ll get me every time. I grew up in a family where my dad doesn nothing but go to work…which is a lot, don’t get me wrong, but once I got married and my hubby started helping me out around the house it took me by surprise – a WONDERFUL surprise. You have many blessings – good job remembering them.
