To Schedule or Not to Schedule…

Welcome back!

scheduleThat is the question.  Yesterday I thought about possibly developing a bloggy schedule.  One, to keep up with all the places that I currently blog.  Since, I blog at 5 blogs, here, my review blog, my ministry site, which is more articles, Rad Revolution, and Moms in a Blog.  I did have a Teen Connection blog associated with my ministry but I have made the decision to cut that one, though I haven’t announced it officially.  But, I am doing so because now that I write for the teen blog, Rad Revolution, through Proverbs 31 Ministries there really is no point in my having my own blog to reach teens.

So, that eliminates one thing, but still writing for 5 blogs is going to be IS a challenge.  So, do I need a bloggy schedule? And if so, should it be so specific as to assign days to my blogs etc? I even made a list yesterday for this blog. I could do things such as Monday Motivation or Menu Plan Mondays, Tackle it Tuesday, Works for Me Wednesday’s or Wordless Wednesdays, and etc, but I thought wouldnt’ that be boring? Don’t a blog for the purpose of having a place to record my thoughts, celebrate my victories, air out my troubles?  Won’t I miss the freedom to do that?

So, maybe I should just blog at the other sites on certain days?  I’m unsure of how to handle this and don’t want a strict schedule to stiffle my motivation or my creativity.  I tend to write better on a whim.  What do you think?  I need suggestions.

Hmmm, as far as scheduling I definitely understand. Having several blogs and writing for several more, I find a schedule definitely helps. I don’t have a schedule for my personal blog but for all the others, I do. I find that it helps me organize my life better.

I have a calendar where I schedule my blog posts along with my other projects and have found it to keep me on track and motivated. Hope this helps:)

I’m doing this with mine too since I’ve recently taken on 3 other projects (my VA blog, my single WAHMs blog and the legal VA association blog).

What I’m doing is setting aside time every night for blogging but I don’t schedule certain blogs on certain days since I never know what topics I’ll have.

Another option would be to set aside some time once or twice a week just for writing and then just set the posts to be published at a later date. That way if you can get a bigger block of time to do it all at once (or twice), you don’t have to worry about doing it every day.

I try to keep somewhat of a schedule for my “work” blogs (MIAB, wedding blogs, etc) so that I know that I don’t miss anything but my personal blog I don’t schedule. It’s my place to vent, share, release, etc and if I get really busy one week and don’t update it at all, it’s not the end of the world. So I allow myself more freedom there.

  4. I have a schedule and attempt to have a theme for my posts on different days, except for my personal blog. But, as you said, I often write on a whim and sometimes write several posts at a time on the ning site and then set it to be published later. When the writing mood strikes go with it- no matter your schedule. But the schedule is good to have to keep me on track so I don’t miss posting on any of the blogs in particular.

  5. i think scheduling is a double edge sword while is can help get you in the process of writing, it can also make you feel like you are forcing your articles. I would try to stick to an article schedule however because it will train your mind to create articles on the spot.
