What a trip!

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Random

Well, everyone I’m home from New Orleans already. Why the short trip? Well, let me explain, I got completely lost in the middle of New Orleans? That was scary and my panic attacks that I hadn’t experienced in months came back in full blast. Then, my grandmother was keeping Lily at the Guest House, but Lily got upset and started crying and my grandmother got in a nervous tizzy. Between the two things I just wanted to come home. I couldn’t concentrate with everything that was going on and I decided it just wasn’t worth it. So, I chose to take care of me and my baby first. I have learned alot from this experience. More than anything God is confirming that right now my place is in my home with my children. They are my primary responsibility, the school thing can wait. I am also feeling that I am doing what I’m suppose to be doing with the girl’s ministry and I just got 2 more bookings in the last few days. I’m excited!

New Discoveries

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just News

planner

I discovered several things today online that I just LOVE. One or two of them aren’t actually new discoveries, but rather things I actually took the time to go back to today. One I found on this blog http://inpursuitofproverbs31.blogspot.com yet I have seen it other places. However this gal Amy was nice enough to share her pages of her Household Binder, what I’m calling the Avant Household Planner. I’ve seen the concept many places including on Flylady, which I have tried to do many times and failed. However, I did create my planner today and I’m proud of it. I plan to begin using it to start my new Morning and Nighttime routines after I return from New Orleans. Baker is starting PreK3 on Monday, August 13, so that gives me one full week to try and get into our routines before we are “forced to” by getting up for school each day. I need to do this though something terrible. I am getting really good at staying in my jammies 3/4 of the day.

Next, I found something else I have been meaning to check out and just haven’t. BlogHer.com yes this is awesome I am so excited about connecting with other women bloggers, especially those who have things in common with me. I want to be apart of all these awesome blog communities. Because hey I am a woman, and I am a blogger and I love it. They are having a conference as we speak in Chicago oh how I wish I was there. :( Maybe next year!

Then, I also tracked down Heather Bixler of GirlyBlogDesignz.com and I’m having her customize this here blog for me. Yes, Life from My Laptop is getting a facelift. I am sooo excited. She said she can’t get to it till August 6 but until then we’ll just have to look at this Wordpress theme, soon I’ll be completely customized though. How cool is that? I can’t wait.

Ok, so that’s my Friday. I hope everyone else out there had an enjoyable one. I sure did. Tonight hubby grilled us some burgers and then we went out for Ice cream.

Getting ready

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Me

I’m getting ready to go to New Orleans next week. I can’t believe I”m not nervous yet. See, I tend to get nervous about traveling, well driving really. And this time I’m driving myself. I don’t do well with that. Knowing no one else is there to “help” me drive. Oh well, I will just have to pray a lot.

I’ve been online looking up directions making sure I knew how to get there. I also looked up directions to some nearby restaurants. A girl’s gotta eat right? Might as well be good. There is a seafood place New Orleans Hamburger. I know I can’t figure out why a seafood place has hamburger in the name either, but it does. Anyway, their menu is on their website. It looks delicious. I really hope that the soft shell crab is in season because I want a poboy soooo bad. We’ll see.

Anyway, I”m trying to finish up last minute stuff here. Packing, writing my ezine, posting stuff to my blogs early, using the “timestamp” of course. :) I love that feature of Wordpress. Anyway, good news is most likely I’ll have Internet access and can log on and fill you all in at night as to how things are going. So… you don’t want to miss that.

Feeling Geeky!

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Work

Ok, today I spent a major portion of the day learning some really cool totally techy, totally geeky stuff online. I have signed up for Ed Dale and Dan Raine’s 30 Day Challenge. Basically, they teach you awesome Internet Marketing techniques, coaching you for 30 days and the end result is that you can make $10 in 30 days by marketing online without spending a dime. I am up for the challenge….what about you? They are doing what they call some “preseason” training which I have been devouring today. They’ve been at it for a few days on their blog and I have just now figured out what was going on! LOL So I watched the videos today, listened to the podcast, installed the new embellishments to Firefox that they said I needed and joined the forum over there. I am totally excited and pumped about doing this. I have learned tons today so I know that this is definitely going to be worth my time and commitment. If you’re interested check it out, it’s totally FREE http://thirtydaychallenge.com
