Happy Halloween

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Me

I know not everyone believes in or celebrates Halloween, and though I don’t really CELEBRATE I do allow my son to go trick or treating and we are going to a Halloween alternative at a church here. I am more excited than him, but I think that’s just because I sit home alot all day and I like to get out and this is an excuse to get out and do something! :) LOL

Tonight I’m going to try a new recipe for dinner, in fact a couple of new ones. I was watching my favorite chef earlier, Rachel Ray and saw her making these chicken meatballs that sounded wonderful so I am doing those!! THen, I am going to attempt fried rice because Rachel made her meatballs with stir fry, she said they were chinese and I don’t have the ingredients on hand for that so I”m making fried rice, or attempting to LOL! This ought to be interesting. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Full and Tired

Published by Alyssa Avant under Uncategorized

Today has been one of those busy Monday’s at the beginning of a month, I know, I know its not November yet, but it might as well be.  I got paid yesterday and Greg tonight and so that means, deposits, bills and all.  Today we ran to Greenwood to put my check in the bank and get cash for my envelopes.  I got to go purchase myself a new pair of shoes, Yellow Box Oakley’s, they are brown, suede and resemble Mary Janes.  I love them! My parents are buying them for me for my birthday.  My mom wants me to call her back in a little while too to tell her what I want for my birthday dinner at her house Thursday night, my actual birthday.  I’ll be 26. OHH no I’m going down the other side of this 20 thing… NOT GOOD!  Oh well, I do love the times in which I am in right now in my life so I shouldn’t complain.  Everything is really good.  I am truly blessed.  I love my job, love my husband, have an adorable son, love my house, I could go on and on.  But, that wasn’t the topic of this blog.  I titled it FULL and TIRED because I just finished supper.  I made me, Baker and Greg some swiss steak, fried cabbage, and new potatoes.  YUM - O ! I am soo full.  I was ready for supper, after our trip to town to get cash, a few things from the store and my shoes I was beat. But my house had gotten in terrible shape, the kitchen needed cleaning, the floors vaccumed and mopped and some just general straightening up so I did that all afternoon while Baker was at his Granny’s visiting.  So, now I am too pooped to party as they say!  LOL! I’ll probably be propped in this recliner the rest of tonight as my 5 month pregnant body can’t take anymore! :) GOODNIGHT!

Ready to go

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Me

I am so ready to go Christmas shopping. Yes, I’ve done a little, but only a little because I am waiting on our Christmas money.  My hubby works ballgames as security and has yet to get paid for some of them, so we’re waiting on that money in order to go Christmas shopping.  Bummer huh!  I love this time of year and I’m so ready for the holidays.  Anyone else out there ready for the Christmas carols, the Christmas smells, and other sounds and things?

Hubby is working a ballgame this weekend, so I don’t have a clue what I”m going to do. If I had some Christmas money, I’d go Christmas shopping! LOL I’m being redundant.  Sorry!

Hubby and I watched our first FPU video last night! So excited he’s on board and we set our financial goals for the next 13 weeks that we’re doing this program.  Here’s my goals.  Ya’ll keep me honest !  SInce we’re not in an actual class we won’t have accountability partners.  But here are our financial goals for the next 13 weeks:

1.  Pay off $3000 in debt.

2.  Pay cash for Christmas gifts.

3.  Keep going on our strict budget.

Thanks for reading!  COMMENT PLEASE!

Playtime

Published by Alyssa Avant under Uncategorized

Well I just got extremely convicted yesterday about my child watching too much TV. I just looked over at him sitting staring at the TV and it hit me, he watches wayy too much. So, I began doing some research to get ideas to do things with him daily. SO now we’re going to have a 30 min activity each morning and one each afternoon that is both educational and fun. THis morning we went on a Nature Walk. THis afternoon he gets to paint a picture of a bear with watercolors. Tomorrow he has a play date with his Granny. She is good about doing things with him as well. Tomorrow afternoon he’s going Grocery shopping with me which he loves to do and I think this can be educational I have him count things or tell me what they are. He also decided this morning when we were tracing over the leaves we picked up on our nature walk that he wanted to learn to draw a circle and a triangle, he’d been playing with his SEe and Say that teaches him numbers and shapes. So he learned to draw a circle and a triangle. I was so proud! So, if any of you ladies, moms out there have good websites for stay at home moms of things to do with your children or ideas yourself please send them my way. Thanks.

Why does ??

Published by Alyssa Avant under Just Me

everything have to cost so much??

I guess the more aware you become of where your money goes, the more aware you become of how much everything costs.  Here I am slaving over my budget once again, hey its a cold rainy day, what else do I have better to do?? And I realize once again that if I coul just get ahead on some of this stuff I’d be sitting pretty. I also realize Christmas is… well too close and I have yet to buy 90% of the gifts.  My son is turning 3 in December, 4 days before Christmas, I might add, so that means a birthday party, and I am wanting to finish my Master’s Degree in Professional counseling in an online program that is not cheap, but much more convenient.  Sigh!! Money, money, money.  I am sooo confused with where part of my money went this month too, we made a lot of extra money, actually paid a good chunk on a CC and then we bought a few things that have been needed for a while, for hubby mainly, who desperately need a new pair of shoes and some new t-shirts, all of which only totalled about $75.  We also bought a pair of shoes for my son, $16 and started Christmas shopping, spending about $116 so far.  However, somehow the money is still not balancing as to where all our Christmas money we had saved is and where the extra Greg has earned is.  UGH! I hate math!!  I am obviously doing something wrong!  I need an accountant! :) LOL for my personal everyday finances.   Just Kidding!  I had to vent though!
